Cancer Research UK's Therapeutic Discovery Laboratories (CRUK-TDL) is the in-house CRUK drug discovery unit with a principal focus on establishing and prosecuting biologically-themed multi-project alliances with industrial partners. Based at the Francis Crick Insitute and the Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge, TDL comprises over 90 staff from both industrial and academic backgrounds.

There is now an exciting opportunity available for a talented and ambitious drug discovery scientist to join the Therapeutic Discovery Laboratories in London as a Group Leader in the Target Validation and Disease Positioning (TVDP) team. The TVDP team is comprised of highly skilled cancer cell biologists and immunologists working across the entire drug discovery pipeline and alliance portfolio. Expertise spans target sourcing and validation, clinical positioning and bioinformatics, and the team routinely performs genetic manipulation, proof of concept and mechanism of action studies and novel cellular assay development.

What will you be doing?

Leading, mentoring and developing a team of 5-10 cell biologists.
Responsible for setting and maintaining the highest scientific standards
Providing flexible project support and motivating team members to maximise their potential.
Developing of future TVDP capability and expertise
Critical input into target and alliance prosecution rationale
Oversight of a themed area of biology and/or lead one or more projects and play a leading role in interactions with our academic and industry partners.
