My client is a Cambridge based Biotechnology organisation who have recently received significant financial investment to further develop their cutting-edge technology platforms. Their technology will help in bringing personalised treatments and advanced medicines into reach for all.

As a direct result of their funding injection, my client have exciting growth plans across their technical team, including hiring a Principal Scientist – Insect Cell Expression in line with expansion of their Protein Team, which ensures novel protein and enzyme expression is robust and scalable, using a range of expression systems.

The company uses a range of proprietary enzymes at the core of their assay platforms, that undergo contemporaneous development and adaption as their technology meets changing real-world applications.

The Principal Scientist – Insect Cell Expression will be leading projects focusing on the development of novel expression systems and enzyme development activities using insect cell cultures. As an expert in insect cell expression, the Principal Scientist – Insect Cell Expression will be expected to drive activities and innovation across projects and serve as the technical guru in this space. This is a high impact role that offers autonomy and ownership within a team that forms a key part of the company’s technology and process development activities.

To be considered for the Principal Scientist – Insect Cell Expression role you’ll need the following skills and experience;

Proven expertise in insect cell culture for protein and enzyme production
A solid understanding of standard protein/enzyme characterisation and testing protocols/assays
BSc, MSc or PhD in a relevant biological science such as cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar.
A data-led mind set
Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Excellent communication skills
