A bit about the role:

In LifeArc, a Scientist is a professional who is able to perform specialised and non-routine experiments and demonstrates an understanding of the scientific rationale of the assigned project(s). As a member of the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology group, you will be part of a core platform that supports the generation of key data for ongoing drug discovery programs. Such data may include outputs from our key cellular, biochemical and biophysical assay platforms which are used to support our antibody and small molecule discovery programs.

With a strong focus on medicine discovery, our programs are patient focussed and all our processes are conducted to an industry-like template, you will work closely with our project teams to support work across our three strategic pillars: impact with partners, translational challenges, and/or early ventures.

Some key accountabilities include:

Develops new cellular, biochemical or biophysical assay solutions for discovery programs

Profiles large and small molecule drug candidates to enable decision making at program meetings and key milestones

Provides detailed understanding of drug-target interactions through more detailed mechanism studies

May contribute to the MCP function more widely if expertise allows, e.g. molecular biology, protein purification and characterization

Effectively communicates experiment and study outcomes to program teams and wider stakeholders

About you:
Education & experience required:

BSc, MSc or recent PhD in a relevant biological discipline

Experience of drug discovery in pharma or biotech is preferred

Experience in biophysical assays such as Biacore is preferred where previous expertise is more biochemistry focused

Skills & abilities:

Good working knowledge of cellular or biochemical assay development in the context of the identification and characterization of drug molecules

Good curve fitting and data analysis skills in the generation of XC50, Kd and Ki data

Strong presentation skills to communicate the outcomes of studies and experiments
