My client are an independent UKAS accredited company, specialising in the laboratory analysis of water samples for microbiological and chemistry parameters. Their core clients work within the water treatment, healthcare, leisure, environmental industries, and they have sites across the UK. They enjoy an excellent reputation in these specialised areas of laboratory analytical services due to their technical expertise and customer service.
Due to continued growth, my client are looking to expand their team and bring on board a Quality Manager – Laboratory Services to take ownership of the quality offering within the organisation. The successful candidate will maintain current quality systems, promote quality continuous improvements within the laboratory and provide support and guidance on quality issues across the business to meet regulatory requirements.
This role can be undertaken via Hybrid working, both remotely and across their two sites in outer London. This is an excellent opportunity to join an enthusiastic and growing team, in order to take the next step in your Quality / QA career.
Key Responsibilities of the Quality Manager – Laboratory Services:
• Lead the Quality team, setting objectives and developing individual training plans.
• Line manage the team of Quality Officers, including leading 1:1’s, appraisals & disciplinaries and authorising annual leave.
• Plan and develop quality programs, including quality assurance, document control, quality systems and training activities throughout the company.
• Oversee quality activities including non-compliances, customer complaints, CAPA’s and audits,
• Author quality documentation including standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and regulatory documents.
• Ensure company-wide adherence to ISO 17025 and UKAS standards.
• Move to imbed a quality culture within the organisation, providing training and support as required.
• Report on quality trends within the business, presenting key updates to senior leadership.
To be considered for the Quality Manager – Laboratory Services, you'll need the following skills and experience;
• BSc or MSc in a relevant scientific discipline such as; Microbiology, Bioscience, Biochemistry, Chemistry or equivalent working experience.
• Considerable experience working in an industry UKAS (or similar) regulated laboratory.
• Demonstrable understanding of quality assurance activities e.g., non-conformances, deviations, CAPA’s, Audits, customer complaints etc.
• Expertise in ISO17025 or UKAS quality systems.
• If you are a professional member of the Institute of Quality Assurance this will be strongly advantageous.
• Exposure to line management and/or leading / mentoring small teams would be beneficial.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to deliver training and provide key quality updates.
• Able to work well in a team, with an open, honest and approachable character.
