R&D Technician – Molecular Diagnostics for Early Cancer Diagnosis

Applied Biotech Ltd is a fast-growing biotechnology company developing and manufacturing innovative diagnostic assays. We are looking to establish our R&D team at our Cambridge Science Park facility. The successful candidate will be methodical and dynamic with a passion for translational cancer research. The role will require a driven and efficient approach to meet deadlines within an exciting new project developing an early cancer diagnosis tool.

Key responsibilities
- Culture and maintain solid tumour cell lines
- Isolate extracellular vesicles using various methods
- Perform antibody validation and bead coupling
- Familiarisation with safety and working practices at facilities that are off premises as well as performing research work at these sites as required
- Perform RNA extraction and quantification
- Operate custom equipment/instrumentation
- Assist in experimental design and validation studies
- Collect and document data and results meticulously
- Preparation and review of experimental protocols
- Perform validation of equipment and processes and maintaining quality logs
- Maintain stock of materials to meet experimental requirements
- Immediate reporting of any breaches in EHS to the management
- Maintain a safe and clean lab environment and compliant with standards
- Analyse and present experimental results
- Work closely with the R&D team

Education and Experience
- BSc in Biomedical Science, Applied Bioscience, Biology or a related degree
- Experience working in a research lab within industry or academia will be considered an asset

Skills and Competencies
- Familiarity with molecular biology methods namely cell culture, bead-based assays, flow cytometry, extracellular vesicle methods.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Can work independently
- Meticulous and systematic in performing processes and keeping organised records
- Ability to adhere to defined procedures and a good understanding of quality systems
