Your role in our team:

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Research Assistant, to join our human pluripotent stem cell platform. Reporting directly to the Team Lead/Senior Scientist, the candidate will contribute to a team of scientists and research assistants at a focal point between the R&D and Cell Production departments. The main objectives of the team are:

To onboard and characterise iPSC lines from both external sources and the Cell Engineering team.
To provide core scientific and material support to the R&D and Manufacturing teams in all activities related to human pluripotent stem cells (sourcing, characterisation, traceability, QC and inventory management).
To support innovation and strategic collaborations for the continuous development of the pluripotent stem cell core platform.
Support the development of an iPSC training programme to support new starters and improve consistency throughout the company.
Support the establishment of a customised cell culture service to provide assay ready iPSCs across the R&D & Manufacturing teams.
This role will be based at our site in Cambridge with the majority of time spent in the lab.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Contributing to a growing team of dedicated scientists and Research Assistants providing a state-of-the-art human pluripotent stem cell facility to support bit.bio’s R&D and Cell Manufacturing capacity.
Producing master and working cell banks of a variety of iPSC lines.
Initiation and execution of experiments, analysis and reporting of results.
Contributing to the development of company strategic programmes by driving innovation for human pluripotent stem cell culture.
Contributing to a proactive, continuous improvement culture and systems to maintain high standards of service and good practice.
Working in collaboration with other Departments (Research, Cellular Engineering, Manufacturing Development and Production) to meet scientific, new product launch and clinical objectives.

You…

Have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field of life sciences.
Have demonstrable experience in a R&D/Manufacturing/Tech Transfer team in industry or an academic institution.
Will join bit.bio as a keen team player driven by a passion for scientific discovery and cell biology.
Are a motivated experimentalist enjoying benchwork, with scientific rigour and a problem-solving attitude.
Will have attention to detail and keen organizational skills.
Excellent record keeping and management of a laboratory notebook.
Will be working collaboratively with the wider bit.bio team under supervision of a senior scientist.

With essential experience in…

Human pluripotent stem cell biology, characterisation, culture systems and QC.
Working to Standard Operating Procedures.
Documenting experimental work.

...and possibly....

Have experience in cell culture automation and cell manufacture.
Have knowledge of cGMP processes and regulations applicable to human iPSCs.
Have experience of quality risk management.
