Research Assistant – Translational Medicine

Your role in our team:

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Research Assistant, to join our Translational Medicine Team. Reporting directly to the Team Lead/Senior Scientist, the candidate will contribute to a team of scientists and research assistants at a focal point between the R&D, Cell Production, and Translational Medicine departments. The main objectives of the team are to functionally characterise bit.bio’s clinical assets, to further develop and enhance cellular therapies through gene editing techniques. You will work cross-functionally with teams across bit.bio to help develop a product for its eventual use in human clinical trials, as well as contribute to the continuous development of the Translational Medicine team, the laboratory environment and overall aims of bit.bio.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Contributing to a growing team of dedicated Scientists and Research Assistants contributing to bit.bio’s clinical program.
Initiation and execution of experiments, analysis and reporting of results using selected software i.e. Benchling.
Contributing to the development of company strategic programmes by driving innovation in the translational medicine department.
Working in collaboration with other Departments (Research, Cellular Engineering, Manufacturing Development and Production) to meet clinical objectives.

You…

Have a degree in life sciences with demonstrable laboratory experience in relevant industry or scientific organisation/institution.
Are process oriented and experienced in implementing workflows, protocols, procedures, and resources.
Are a motivated lab scientist demonstrating the highest scientific rigour, operational skills and work standards.
Are a passionate team player with excellent communication skills.
Are resilient and able to work well under pressure.
Willingness to work in a highly collaborative and cross functional environment.

With essential experience in…

Human pluripotent stem cell biology, characterisation, and cell culture systems.
Experience in human iPSC differentiation
Documenting experimental work.
Mammalian cell phenotyping techniques (immunostaining, qPCR).

...and possibly....

Have knowledge of cellular characterisation assays (e.g. immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry and qPCR).
Mammalian cell phenotyping techniques (immunostaining, qPCR).
