Isomerase is an innovative, growing biotechnology company based at Chesterford Research Park near Cambridge, UK. It was founded in 2012 and has particular expertise in synthetic biology, bioengineering and the discovery and development of the next generation of microbial products, including small molecules, peptides, enzymes and proteins for use in areas including medicine, agritech or sustainable alternatives to existing petroleum-based products.
We are looking for excellent candidates able to work in a multidisciplinary team generating technologies and solving problems on the chemistry/biology interface.

Research Associate in Chemistry
As a key member of the team, you will play an important role in developing the next generation of microbially-derived products and processes. Your duties will include working with synthetic biologists and bioprocess engineers to identify, quantify, isolate and characterise products produced in bacteria and fungi or via biocatalytic transformations.

You are a recent graduate, or will soon receive a good degree, in chemistry or closely related area. You will have a thorough understanding of analytical and organic chemistry. Practical experience of analytical and organic chemistry as part of those studies is preferred. An understanding of, and previous experience, with biosynthesis or biocatalysis is desirable.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high aptitude for learning and assimilating new skills and concepts. The successful candidate(s) will possess excellent numeracy and IT skills. You will be capable of communicating your ideas and reporting your data and results with other scientists and will be an enthusiastic team member.
