Research Associate: non-viral gene delivery

4basebio is an innovative gene synthesis company with the ambition to provide high quality, synthetic DNA for use in gene therapies and gene vaccines. The company is expanding their research and development team at our site in Cambridge, UK to facilitate the scaling of our proprietary DNA manufacturing process and develop non-viral nanoparticle and AAV vectors for DNA delivery. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced team member to help us achieve our ambitions and goals.

The primary focus of the role will be to advance our non-viral delivery platform, with a focus on the liver. In addition, there will be opportunity for the candidate to interact with multi-disciplinary teams within the Research department and expand their laboratory skill set.

Responsibilities:
• Formulation, characterisation and testing of novel nanoparticles for gene delivery in liver cell models
• Molecular and functional validation of transfected cells (Flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, Western blot, ELISA)
• Actively participate and contribute to laboratory and company meetings
• Maintain an accurate and complete record of laboratory work performed
• To use and maintain company equipment in accordance with the company’s SOPs and health & safety guidelines
• To undertake any other appropriate roles and responsibilities that reasonably fall within the role holder’s skills and experience as requested
• Be prepared to travel to other 4basebio sites

Person Specification:
• MSc + 2 years industry experience in relevant scientific field
• Extensive cell culture experience, liver cell models is desirable
• Highly experienced in Western, ELISA, flow, PCR techniques
• Familiarity with particle sizing techniques, e.g. Zetasizer, Microscopy desirable
