Research Scientist - Molecular Technology Development

What we are looking for

The Company is looking for an enthusiastic, entry-level Research Scientist to join the Molecular team and lead technology development. With the support of Molecular group leads, you will be responsible for the implementation of improved genome editing, sequencing, cloning and other molecular biology-based technologies in addition to improvement of our pipelines and processes.

Initially working to establish early-stage genome editing validation and DNA-based analysis technologies in collaboration with the Genotyping Lead, you will plan, execute, and report on experiments with the support of a technical team. The future scope of this role has the potential for significant impact within Tropic through the development our genome editing approaches.

Key Roles and Responsibility

To lead projects for implementing novel technologies within Molecular Biology, including performing bench work and data analysis as required
To consult with the Genotyping, Cloning and RNA leads within the Molecular Biology team on the implementation of novel technologies and process improvements
To write and allocate writing and revisions of the Molecular Team SOPs
To check and sign off all records (databases and laboratory e-notebooks) updated by the technicians assigned to their selected projects

Qualification, knowledge, and key skills

PhD in a relevant field (Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Medicine, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or closely related field) or extensive directly related industry experience
Broad, hands-on experience with cloning techniques, sequencing technologies and DNA-based analysis
Broad experience with genome editing, including design and analysis of genome editing techniologies
Advanced computer skills, ability to work with diverse molecular biology software
Excellent organization skills
Strong and clear written and oral communication skills to allow the exchange of information with people representing a wide diversity of disciplines and levels within the organization
Proficient in working with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Fluent in English – speaking and writing
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment while consistently maintaining a positive and professional attitude
Good team player, strong execution, and flexibility to handle changes

Time Requirement - Full time position.
