Maxion Therapeutics (www.maxion.co.uk) is a newly formed biotechnology company founded up on the vision of developing life-changing biologic medicines for untreated dis-eases. The company uses its innovative KnotBody technology in combination with in vitro display technologies to generate therapeutic antibody candidates against ion channels and GPCRs. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated scientist to join our team based at the Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge. The successful candidate will participate in active drug discovery and technology development programmes contributing their expertise to help the company achieve its challenging goals. The applicant will be comfortable with our nimble, start-up culture and fast-paced, dynamic working environment. This full-time role is lab-based with scope for line management and mentoring responsibilities as the team expands.

Candidate Profile:

The candidate will be a PhD graduate (or equivalent) with research experience in either an industrial or academic lab. Essential skills include:

• Experience in Cell biology or Molecular biology or antibody/protein engineering
• Attention to detail, rigorous scientific thinking and commitment to quality
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative working relation-ships
• Ability to meet deadlines

Beyond this core experience one or more of the following skills will be advantageous:

• Experience in ion channel and GPCR biology and drug discovery
• Display technology techniques (e.g., phage, yeast, ribosome display)
• Experience in developing biochemical and cell-based assays for antibody screening
• Flow cytometry

Key responsibilities:
• To plan and carry out lab work to the highest quality standards
• To analyse, interpret and effectively communicate data verbally and in written form to team members and at scientific conferences
• To use appropriate scientific literature to independently design & execute innovative experiments and processes
• To solve problems on a day-to-day basis and oversee junior colleagues as required
• To maintain accurate records of all work by completing laboratory notebooks on time, following Company procedures
