Job Summary/ Scope of Role

This is an outstanding new opportunity for a proactive and energetic Research Scientist/Senior Scientist to join an innovative biotech company and work closely with experienced scientists both internally and externally. We are looking for a highly collaborative cellular biologist with a passion for science who would like to join a committed, dynamic team and share our vision to bring new therapies to patients in need.

The successful candidate will provide in vitro assay expertise working closely with our talented Project Leads to independently perform cellular assays to support the transition of our lead programme into the clinic. They will undertake flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, high content imaging and ligand (MSD, ELISA) based assays and apply troubleshooting skills as needed. This role will benefit from extensive training and exposure to cutting edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and perform complex in vitro assays to support our lead programme into the clinic using techniques such as flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and ELISA/MSD.
  • Work alongside in vivo and antibody discovery groups to achieve programme goals in a timely manner.
  • Apply teamwork and adaptability to go beyond the designated scope when required to deliver project goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date experimental records in electronic lab notebooks.
  • Present data clearly to project teams and ensure reporting of programme progression, data readouts and status to the relevant audiences (internal and external stakeholders as required).
  • Prepare reports for submission to regulatory authorities.

 
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required.

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in relevant area of cell biology or immunology, with significant experience in academic and/or industrial labs.
  • An understanding or experience of receptor biology, tumour microenvironment and/or inflammation.
  • Technical expertise in flow cytometry and/or immunohistochemistry with strong experience in developing primary/ immortalised cell-based assays.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative style with colleagues and project teams within Mestag and with external partners (CROs and consultants).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Pragmatic troubleshooter able to adapt ideas and experiments to achieve key programme objectives and adhere to timelines.

 
Preferred, but not essential:

  • Expertise in high content imaging, ELISA, MSD and complex coculture assays.
  • Experience working with antibodies.
