Artios Pharma is currently recruiting a Scientist to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a world class research team in a dynamic, expanding biotech company based south of Cambridge, UK. Artios is focused on identifying and developing cancer treatments by exploiting novel targets within the DNA damage response (DDR), a scientific area of high expectation following the success of PARP inhibitors in the clinic.
This is a Scientist position focusing on identification of disease positioning biomarkers and new targets for various Artios’ programs using genetic screens.
The successful candidate will apply their technical expertise in cellular and molecular biology to perform genetic screens (CRISPR/RNAi) and hits validation. These projects will include basic molecular and cellular biology techniques such as cell culture, cell viability/proliferation assays, FACS, imaging and gene editing and sequencing.
The successful candidate will contribute biological data to Artios’ ongoing drug discovery projects. There will be opportunities to work in multi-disciplinary collaborative networks, involving CRO’s and academic scientists.
Primary responsibility will be developing and performing CRISPR and occasionally other genetic screens with Artios’ proprietary compounds as well as hits validation using gene editing and diverse cell viability assays. Apply technical expertise in cellular and molecular biology, contribute biological data to Artios’ ongoing drug discovery projects and will have the opportunity to work in multi-disciplinary collaborative networks, involving CRO’s and academic scientists.
Experience required:
• Proven track record of delivering excellent quality research.
• Experience in basic molecular and cell biology techniques, including cell culture, proliferation/viability assays, FACS, western blot, imaging, PCR.
• Experience in gene editing and CRISPR screens.
• Expertise in DDR and cancer drug discovery is desirable.
Qualifications required:
PhD in a life science discipline or equivalent experience in industrial settings.
