Senior Business Development Manager - Degree Apprenticeships

About the Role

This is an exciting post that has been developed as a result of securing the London City Institute of Technology (LCIOT) award with £28m in funding from the Department for Education and the London Assembly. The aim of the post is to work strategically with key stakeholders in developing and expanding Queen Mary University of London’s employer led degree apprenticeship education activities. The postholder will devise and roll out a degree apprenticeship communications strategy and lead on the degree apprenticeship sales and marketing strategy with a focus on the programmes offered by Queen Mary. A high volume of conversion sales from employers across the existing degree apprenticeship standards and new Trailblazer standards are required in order to achieve income growth in line with Queen Mary’s degree apprenticeship strategy.

About You

You will need to have an extensive and up to date working knowledge of degree apprenticeships’ as well as the apprenticeship levy and how employers can maximise the levy to good effect. Ideally, the candidate will have substantial experience in a commercial and sales environment and be able to negotiate contracts and write compelling tenders and bids to maximise growth opportunities. Experience of developing strong strategic partnerships with employers and/or employer and skills related networks is vital for this role. Additionally, you will also need to be self-motivated with a strong commercial focus and excellent communication and influencing skills. About the Department

In 2015, Queen Mary University of London became one of the first Higher Education Institutions in the United Kingdom to deliver a Degree Apprenticeship programme. Since then, we have developed a portfolio of programmes with a diverse range of employers, including, a number of leading international financial services firms and banks, global pharmaceutical firms, national retailers, IT/technology companies and a growing number of SME’s and organisations from the third and charitable sectors.

The post is based at Department W, Mile End, London. It is a full-time, permanent appointment. The starting salary will be Grade 7, £58,949 per annum, inclusive of the London Allowance.
