Position
The Senior Patent Paralegal will play a critical role in ensuring that Inivata’s IP strategy is fully implemented and supported in all areas of the business. This will include maintaining records and docketing deadlines for the in-house patent portfolio and any contentious proceedings, providing support for key FTO searches and third-party patent monitoring. When needed, providing IP support for BD opportunities and related contracts. Provide general IP-related administrative support. All these activities will involve working closely with internal and external expert technical and IP experts.
Key Responsibilities:
Keeping patent and trademark files up to date
Docketing deadlines and managing diary
Providing instructions based on attorney input & tracking responses
Coordination and preparation of all patent formalities documentation and inventory declarations/assignments, preparation of patent figures & filing procedures
Maintenance of files, schedules and reports relating to freedom-to-operate analysis, ongoing competitor portfolio analysis & tracking
Ability to conduct first pass analysis of FTO searches, including legal status, country scope analysis and collating supporting documentation
Maintaining prior art records and coordinating US IDS requirements
Ability to pull together patent schedules, reports and documentation for due diligence and BD deals
Knowledge of legal contracts, organisation & deadlines associated therewith
Assistance with managing financial records, billing & liaising with external counsel when needed
HIPAA/GDPR Compliance: Position will
Agree to abide by Employment and Confidentiality Agreements and End User Policies
Commit to stay up to date on training requirements for HIPAA/GDPR
Understand the importance of the proper handling and disposal of ePHI and agrees to follow HIPAA/GDPR Regulations
Abide by the requirements for the proper disposal of equipment containing ePHI
Agree to report breaches and the improper handling of ePHI to the Company’s Privacy and Security Officers
Produce and adhere to proper validation documentation
Requirements
Technical Requirement:
Minimum 5 years patent paralegal experience, preferably in-house
CIPA Introductory Certificate in Patent Administration Course (IPAC)
Skill requirement:
Good knowledge of patent databases, preferably including PatBase, EPOline, UK IPSUM, PatentScope and US PAIR
Self-motivated, responsible attitude with ability to prioritise and complete tasks in a timely manner
Strong time management skills and dependable in completing quality projects against deadlines
Extreme attention to detail required
Well-developed interpersonal skills and teamwork
