About the Role

This role will support researchers in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to develop relationships with external organisations including the commercial, government and not-for-profit sectors. The focus for the development of research partnerships will be through collaborative research schemes (e.g. Research Councils, Wellcome Trust) and strategic, capacity building bids (e.g. fellowships and Faculty Doctoral Training bids) as well as contract/consultancy research and tenders.

The post-holder will lead, manage and deliver the team’s support to the HSS Faculty including line management of the Research Partnerships Manager, who has focussed on developing a consultancy portfolio. This will require identifying key partners and funding opportunities; supporting high quality research bids; negotiating contracts and agreements; and advising on strategies to deliver future success. There will be an emphasis on generating substantial, long-term relationships with partners, recognising the wider benefits that these types of relationships bring to academic research, teaching and impact across the Faculty.

About You

The successful candidate will have significant research development/engagement experience gained within a research-intensive HEI and a successful track record of handling partner negotiations, including contract review and development. They will have significant writing experience, including large scale/complex research proposals, business plans, case studies and marketing materials. The successful candidate will have experience of managing, mentoring and motivating staff and strong interpersonal skills.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time permanent appointment. The starting salary will be Grade 7, £55,840 - £62,415 per, inclusive of London Allowance.
