Company: Sense is a start-up in vitro diagnostics company based in Cambridge and Oxford UK. The company is developing a new class of molecular diagnostic test device for a range of clinical applications. Founded by an experienced and highly successful leadership team, Sense has ambitious plans to grow from its strong foundations and become a leader in the field. The company has significant backing from leading venture capitalist investors and is currently industrialising its first commercial products. Sense is currently expanding its R&D operations and consequently has a new position available for a motivated and experienced scientist to join its laboratory team.

The Role and Responsibilities: This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to contribute to the development and growth of an innovative molecular diagnostics start-up company. The successful candidate will perform a crucial role in the verification and validation testing of molecular assays as part of development of diagnostic products. The successful candidate would work in close collaboration with the existing laboratory research and engineering teams in a multidisciplinary environment. The role will include the following key responsibilities:
• Produce and characterise pathogenic viruses for diagnostic product development;
• Perform verification and validation testing of diagnostic tests;
• Support the establishment of processes for the operation of relevant laboratory facilities;
• Document and report results and data in accordance with agreed protocols;
• Ensure compliance of laboratory operations with the company’s quality system.

Applicant: Candidates are expected to have a scientific degree relevant to the role in addition to significant laboratory experience in virology. Prior experience within the diagnostics industry and knowledge of verification and validation testing of diagnostic products would be an advantage. A post graduate degree (Masters / PhD qualification) would be an advantage.
