Target Validation Scientist (4264)

Outline of the role
You will join a growing research team within this innovative and expanding company. Your primary responsibilities will be to support the DDR Biology team in contributing biological data to Artios’ early-stage drug discovery projects. You will use genetic, cell biological and pharmacological strategies to identify and validate therapeutic targets using cell-based systems and deliver high quality cell biological and mode of action data packages to understand target biology. You will also work in multi-disciplinary collaborations involving a high level of teamwork.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Apply expertise in cell and molecular biology to run mechanistic cell biological studies to validate Artios’ novel targets
Contribute biological data to Artios’ ongoing drug discovery projects

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential
PhD or equivalent in a life science subject
Proven experience working in a research environment

Desirable
Experience of in vitro pharmacology or drug discovery
Experience working in an industrial setting will be a distinct advantage

Key Skills and Abilities

Essential
Excellent skills in a broad range of cell and molecular biology techniques, including mammalian cell culture, viability assays, Western blotting and RNA interference
Understanding of DNA damage response biology, DNA repair pathways and/or cancer biology
High level of team working skills required
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in an organised and methodical fashion
Ability to troubleshoot experiments independently
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent attention to detail
Keeping accurate laboratory records
High level of IT literacy
Flexible approach to change

Desirable
Expertise in fluorescence microscopy-based methods such as immunofluorescence
Expertise in flow cytometry
Experience of small molecule drug discovery
Experience with stable cell line generation
