Job Description Summary
The Manager, UK Facilities ensures an optimal working environment for all staff members based at the Cambridge, UK office by coordinating full maintenance services for the facility and its equipment, in addition to promoting the organizational health and safety performance at STEMCELL. With STEMCELL’s anticipated growth in UK/Europe, the role will assume additional responsibilities, including managing facilities maintenance personnel of our distribution center in Grenoble, France, ensuring the facility is maintained to STEMCELL’s standard of excellence.
Reporting to the Director, Global Facilities Operations, based in Canada, the Manager, UK Facilities will be responsible for the delivery of the day-to-day operational activities of the facility through the implementation of best practice methodologies and ensuring a high level of service is delivered to our staff based in the UK.

Duties and Responsibilities
Facility and Equipment
Perform and/or coordinate with service providers the routine maintenance, repairs and resolution of problems associated with all building services, including but not limited to: the work space, meeting rooms and related equipment, interior furnishings, fixtures and facilities equipment (mechanical, electrical and instrumentation/control equipment)..
Lead, direct and review the work of team member(s) in France (Grenoble) and future sites, when announced. Provides coaching, mentorship and conducts regular performance reviews of team member(s) to improve performance and provide developmental opportunities.
Lead in the development of specifications and requirements for new equipment, including sourcing and installation..
Perform and/or manage new equipment commissioning or validation as per STEMCELL’s quality control program (IOPQ).
Perform and/or manage the performance of new equipment commissioning or validation (IOPQ), maintenance and calibration of equipment at the UK site, as well as providing secondary support for the Grenoble and Cologne premises.
Lead in sourcing suppliers, scheduling the maintenance orders and ensuring all service requests are completed on time.
Manage, maintain and review service contracts and conditions.
Initiate and facilitate closure of Non Conformance Reports (NCRs), Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs) or deviations as required.
Participate in updating STEMCELL’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide training to EU staff as required.
May be required to complete and maintain necessary training to work with both regulated and non regulated products.
May be required to provide technical expertise and knowledge to other departments related to regulated and non-regulated products.
Be on-call to respond to critical alarms and, when necessary, restore facility operation to a safe and reliable state, effectively and efficiently.
Collaborate with the corporate Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) group in Vancouver, Canada, to support the team in ensuring facility EH&S requirements are met and the site is maintained in an incident-free manner.
Qualifications
Technical Diploma or relevant certifications.
8-10 years of previous facilities maintenance experience, ideally in an ISO, GMP compliant or equivalent industry.
Working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and practices in the UK (applicable regulations, NEBOSH, ISO and GMP preferred).
2+ years of experience leading and managing a team with the ability to effectively delegate, mentor and develop staff and inspire others to reach their full capability, maximize their capacity and accomplish goals.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous activities and manage contractors/engineers to ensure all work is completed safely, reliably and cost effectively.
Comprehensive working knowledge of equipment calibration and their applications, including commissioning, test standards, troubleshooting, repairs and optimization of manufacturing equipment.
Customer-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
Detail-oriented and proficient at time management.
Team orientated – ‘one-team’ behavior is a must.
