You will be focusing on promoting innovation in human healthcare and translating new technologies for societal benefit.
You will be engaging with the Institute’s scientists to source projects with translational potential and developing these opportunities up to a point where they can be applied in the real world or be partnered for further development.
You will have an excellent scientific background (bioscience/bioinformatic) and a real passion for maximising the impact of the Institute’s science. Depending on the role applied for, you may have experience in commercialising early stage technology. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to establish relationships with diverse stakeholders and craft long-term reciprocal partnerships.
You will be someone who enjoys the freedom of developing and managing your own project portfolio within the context of a supportive and interactive team.

You’ll be joining an upbeat and supportive team, experienced in translating genome and biodata science toward a range of opportunities in healthcare from sustainability plans for software or database products (e.g. COSMIC ), ambitious public-private partnerships (e.g. Open Targets), technologies and reagent licenses (e.g. CRISPR library) or spin-outs (e.g. Microbiotica)
Essential Skills:
For Business Development Associates:
Be qualified to PhD level in a relevant scientific subject (or have equivalent experience)
Evidence of successful project management
Excellent influencing and written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to handle and progress multiple projects efficiently and effectively
Proven ability to quickly grasp new scientific concepts and technologies
Knowledge of Life Science and BioData industries
Exceptional team ethic
Outline knowledge of the technology transfer process
Business Development Managers will IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE need to meet the following essential criteria.
Detailed understanding of the technology transfer processes
Experience of successfully translating research into commercial opportunities
Experience of successful formulation and implementation of business development plans
Knowledge and experience of building technology business cases for investment
An outstanding track record of establishing and maintaining long term relationships with diverse stakeholders
Senior Business Development Managers will IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE need to meet the following essential criteria.
Experience of developing and managing high performing teams in a relevant field
Evidence of being a recognised authority/thought leader in a relevant field
Strong track record of strategic analysis, choice and implementation in a relevant field
Strong track record of leading across all modes of technology commercialisation including spin out formation
Strong track record of board level influence in a relevant setting.
Deep understanding of genome and biodata research and commercialisation.
