About Inaphaea BioLabs:
Inaphaea BioLabs is an innovative start-up Translational Contract Research Organisation (tCRO) based at MediCity in Beeston, Nottingham. We specialise in developing novel therapeutics by leveraging a unique biobank of over 500 patient-derived cancer (PDC) models from solid tumour biopsies. Our mission is to improve the translation of early drug discovery projects towards the clinic by providing customised immuno and cancer cell-based assays for early drug discovery research and pre-clinical development.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role supports the day-to-day operations of the laboratory by ensuring consumables, equipment, and general laboratory management are maintained to the highest standard.
As the first position of its kind at Inaphaea BioLabs, this is a unique opportunity for someone to take ownership of the role, implementing new strategies and processes to optimise lab eOiciency. We welcome fresh ideas and initiative from candidates who can help shape this role into an essential part of our operations.

Please note: This is a technical support role and is not intended to be a track to becoming a laboratory scientist.

Key Responsibilities: Stock Management:
•    Conduct routine checks of general consumable stores and place re-orders to ensure
continuous stock availability.
•    Assist in inventory tracking and maintain accurate records for reagents, consumables, and other supplies.

Waste Management:
•    Manage laboratory waste disposal in compliance with regulations.

Equipment Maintenance:
•    Perform general lab equipment maintenance.
•    Coordinate with engineers for repairs and servicing in conjunction with scientists.

Decontamination  Management:
•    Take full responsibility for the decontamination of laboratory equipment, ensuring adherence to scheduled processes.
•    Manage and maintain the decontamination schedule, ensuring all equipment is decontaminated at required intervals.

Reagent Preparation:
•    Assist in the preparation of reagents and buOers, including those required for cell culture workflows.
•    Ensure that aseptic techniques are followed during reagent preparation to maintain sterility and avoid contamination.
•    Support the team by preparing media, supplements, and other materials essential for cell culture processes.

Asset Management:
•    Register and record fixed asset numbers for new equipment purchases.

Support and Collaboration:
•    Proactively assist team members during quiet periods.
•    Track tasks to completion and collaborate eOectively with colleagues.

Laboratory Organisation and Health & Safety:
•    Maintain a tidy workplace and uphold high health and safety standards.
•    Ensure availability and proper functioning of safety equipment.
Communication and Coordination:
•    Stay contactable during working hours to respond to team needs.
•    Collaborate with the team to ensure coverage of tasks during core working hours.

Qualifications:
•    Previous experience in a laboratory environment is required.
•    Strong organisational and time-management skills.
•    Familiarity with health and safety standards in laboratory settings.
•    Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
•    Ability to take initiative and identify opportunities for improvement.

Salary and Benefits:
•    Competitive salary in the range of £23,000 to £27,000 per annum based on experience.
