We are a contract research organisation (CRO) providing scientific solutions and people resource to our clients looking to outsource research in the pre-clinical drug discovery space. We provide scientific resource, knowledge and experience to help our clients get their drug to the clinic faster. Our ethos is to work collaboratively with our clients to enhance problem solving and provide immunology excellence to progress their drug discovery program. As a CRO our clients are diverse ranging from small Biotech through to big Pharma; this provides an exciting opportunity to work with many different clients and across multiple cutting-edge drug development projects. The focus of the company is the human immune system; working in areas where the immune system either drives disease such as autoimmunity, inflammation, neuro-inflammation, and in areas where the immune system provides potential therapeutic target solutions such as immuno-oncology, vaccine development, cellular therapies, gene therapies.
The role:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Lead Senior Scientist to oversee scientific projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest standards. This role involves managing project resourcing, collaborating with senior scientists, and maintaining clear and effective communication with clients. You should be a strong communicator who thrives in a team environment, working closely with colleagues to bring projects to completion. As a leader within the scientific team, you will provide mentorship to junior scientists and have the opportunity to develop your management skills. Additionally, you will take ownership of a scientific subject, technique, or equipment, supporting assay development and shaping future research priorities. This role offers significant opportunities to expand your skill set and deepen your expertise within the immunology space.
Who you are:
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Immunology, with at least four years of postdoctoral or industry experience in a laboratory setting, performing assays relevant to the work at Nexus BioQuest. You should have strong independent data handling skills, with significant experience in analysing, interpreting, and presenting scientific data and reports to both internal and external stakeholders. While direct line management experience is not required, you must be able to demonstrate a track record of mentorship and guidance within a scientific team. You will need to provide clear examples of successfully managing projects independently, from initiation through to reporting and next steps, ensuring high-quality delivery. Experience in working with project a project manager/programme director to resource projects effectively and collaborating with other scientists to seek input where required is essential. Candidates with experience outside a CRO environment should be able to demonstrate comparable collaboration with a project manager and scientific leadership within their previous roles. Significant practical experience in one of more of the following areas is required:
-Cell culture of primary immune cells and cell lines
-Proteomics
-High/Medium Throughput Assays
-Flow cytometry
-Confocal or HCS Imaging and image analysis
-qPCR/molecular biology
-Cytokine analysis (multiplexing)
