Leading intellectual property firm Marks & Clerk to host Cambridge IP Summit

Leading Cambridge and international intellectual property (IP) firm Marks & Clerk is to host the Cambridge IP Summit, taking place on Thursday 10 October at the Hilton Hotel, Cambridge.

The event aims to build upon the success of last year’s summit, which brought leading businesses from Cambridge and beyond together to discuss how to protect high-tech innovation.

The one day event provides a forum for in-house IP teams, general counsel, investors, CEOs, CTOs and senior decision makers to come together to discuss and analyse the key issues impacting innovative and technology driven businesses.

Steven Gurney, Partner at Marks & Clerk’s Cambridge office said: “Cambridge continues to be Europe’s pre-eminent technology and innovation cluster and the success of its universities and companies is driven by their identifying, protecting and deriving the maximum commercial return from their most valuable asset – their intellectual property. We’re delighted to be holding our second IP Summit here again and look forward to seeing everyone next week and sharing knowledge and best practice.”

Professor Christopher R Lowe, Emeritus Professor of Biotechnology at University of Cambridge will be giving a keynote speech at the event, with speakers also confirmed from companies including AstraZeneca, Caterpillar and the European Patent Office.

Comment on the event, Professor Lowe said: "I'm delighted to be presenting at the highly regarded Cambridge IP Summit 2019 and to learn from my peers. IP has been a significant part of my professional career but there is always more to learn. The Cambridge IP Summit 2019 provides an excellent opportunity for IP professionals to share ideas and identify answers to questions many face in today’s IP landscape”.
