Creative Places enters new era with the appointment of new partner and the retirement of co-founder

Seb Denby is promoted to Partner as co-founder Jonathan Burroughs retires

16th January 2024: Creative Places, a leading R&D real estate advisor, announces the promotion of Seb Denby to Partner and the retirement of its co-founder and former CEO, Jonathan Burroughs.

Based in Cambridge, Creative Places’ award-winning team excels in advising clients on how to develop and invest in locations that can become ‘value add’ places to all that use them.

The strategic leadership transition of its co-founder’s retirement and the addition of a new partner marks a new chapter for the specialist R&D property business.

Liam Nicholls, CEO of Creative Places, said: "Seb has been a great addition to the business, bringing agency experience in R&D real estate which complements the skills across the team. We are delighted to announce his well-deserved promotion.”

Seb joined Creative Places in 2022 and has played an important role in advancing the company's capabilities, contributing his agency experience and meticulous attention to detail to R&D projects across the UK's Golden Triangle.

His detailed market knowledge has enhanced the company's ability to provide the most up-to-date, expert advice to organisations looking to develop and invest in R&D-centric locations, such as science and research parks, innovation districts, and biomedical campuses.

Liam also expressed gratitude for Creative Places’ outgoing co-founder: "Jonathan has been an inspiring and influential leader. His strategic foresight has ensured the seamless continuation of Creative Places' legacy as a market leader in providing cutting-edge advice to its valued client base. We, along with his many clients, wish Jonathan a fond farewell and well-earned retirement."

Jonathan, who together with John Sommerville established Creative Places in 2009, has been instrumental in growing the company from scratch to become one of the foremost advisors in the UK's R&D real estate sector.
Over his 40-year career, Jonathan achieved significant milestones, including spearheading the creation of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and advising on the development of the UK's first commercially leased laboratory buildings.

Liam added: “These changes signal an exciting new phase for the company. As CEO, I look forward to continuing Creative Places’ tradition of excellence in R&D real estate as we evolve and grow to respond to the needs of the next generation of R&D occupiers and investors.”
