Metrion Biosciences (‘Metrion’) is a UK-based, ion channel focused Contract Research Organisation (CRO) providing high-quality in vitro preclinical drug discovery and safety profiling services. From our headquarters at Granta Park, Cambridge, we support a global customer base with cardiac safety profiling, ion channel drug discovery screening, medicinal chemistry screening support, and neuroscience assay services.

 

Role summary

This newly created role, reporting to the Head of Marketing, is perfect for someone taking their first step into a full-time marketing position and looking to build strong foundations in a science-led commercial environment. You will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of marketing activities while working within a supportive team.

A key part of the role is generating high-quality marketing qualified leads through structured desktop research, helping to fuel our business development pipeline. You will also play an active role in our digital marketing activity, creating engaging content, supporting campaigns.

This is a varied, practical role offering the chance to grow your skills in B2B scientific marketing, contribute creative ideas and develop confidence across multiple marketing disciplines including campaigns, digital marketing, CRM, internal communications and event support.

 

Key responsibilities

Desktop research

  • Assist with lead generation and other marketing research projects

Digital marketing

  • Social media (LinkedIn): Schedule and publish content; Design graphics; Support campaign implementation
  • Website: Update content; Optimise website content, including SEO improvements
  • Assist with the compilation and distribution of the company newsletter
  • Support video content planning, filming and editing
  • Update and maintain existing brochures and develop new printed marketing materials in line with brand guidelines

CRM

  • Implement targeted outreach campaigns
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM data to support segmentation and campaign effectiveness

Internal marketing

  • Coordinate internal marketing initiatives
  • Maintain intranet

Events

  • Register attendees and coordinate event administration
  • Coordinate exhibition and sponsorship logistics
  • Circulate event reports

Stakeholder engagement

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across business units
  • Liaise with external suppliers and partners

 

About you

Essential

  • Dynamic and enthusiastic, bringing fresh, creative insight to social media, video and wider digital marketing activities
  • Naturally curious with a strong investigative mindset and persistence in lead discovery
  • Comfortable conducting detailed desk research to identify high-quality prospects
  • Good written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Background, or genuine interest, in science
  • Technically confident, with ability and willingness to learn new tools

Desirable

  • Marketing qualification, or currently studying for marketing qualification
  • Experience using HubSpot CRM
  • Experience running LinkedIn campaigns
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and Google Ads
  • Experience with PhotoShop and InDesign
  • Experience in planning, filming and editing video content
