o2h discovery launches the o2h kickstarter competition 2.0 to support Australian early stage biotechs’

o2h discovery, a preclinical Contract Research Organization which has an integrated drug discovery platform, is pleased to announce the second edition of the o2h kickstarter competition exclusively aimed towards supporting Australian early stage biotech companies. After the overwhelming response to the first competition, we are back with another edition to specifically support early stage Aus Biotech in their drug discovery programmes.

Aus Biotech has a globally competitive biotech ecosystem which has impact significantly higher than its size compared to the overall global Biotech sector. We at o2h discovery have recognised this powerhouse of research excellence and are dedicating a Kickstarter competition focused only on the Aus Biotech ecosystem.
The programme aims to extend o2h discovery’s small molecule and medicinal chemistry research expertise to seed early stage Aus biotech companies with breakthrough drug discovery programme and plans to advance them to the next milestone.

We understand that drug discovery research is a complex phenomenon. The first phase itself requires synthesis and screening of large numbers of new molecules to identify a “hit”. This initial phase we believe could be extremely time consuming as well as costly. The o2h kickstarter competition has been developed to provide a boost to small molecule focused biotech companies who need to supercharge their chemistry efforts to meet their next funding milestone. o2h discovery believes in working collaboratively and would like to play our part by supporting promising drug discovery research. Although this is a time-limited competition, if supportive to the global biotech ecosystem we will run this again.

The applications will be evaluated by the kickstarter committee including Sunil Shah, Co-founder of o2h group, Andy Morley, CSO of o2h discovery amongst others. The programme offers a dedicated team of six FTE chemists for each project, access to a large inventory of chemicals and reagents for synthesis in order to support small molecules research at reasonable costs.
