Senior Bioinformatician - Translational & Clinical Development UK (London) / BE (Gent)
BioLizard (“The Lizards”) is a leading bioinformatics consultancy that partners with biotech and pharma organizations to bridge biology, data, and AI. Our mission is to unlock insights that accelerate scientific innovation and clinical translation.

As a BioLizard consultant, you’ll work on-site in the UK or BE and embedded as part of the bioinformatics team of a pharma client, supporting Translational and Clinical Development, contributing to different programs under development to bring novel therapies to patients. You’ll apply your bioinformatics expertise to patient-level molecular data to deepen understanding of treatment mechanisms, disease progression, and clinical response.

Your Role

You will drive the integration and interpretation of omics, translational and clinical data from patient studies to identify biomarkers, assess mechanisms of action, and inform clinical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

● Process, analyze, and interpret molecular datasets from clinical studies, including bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenomics.

● Develop robust, reproducible bioinformatics pipelines tailored to patient-level data and regulatory standards.

● Apply methods for pathway and network analysis, functional enrichment, and causal reasoning to derive clinical insights.

● Integrate omics and clinical variables to identify biomarkers of response, safety, or stratification.

● Ensure traceability and compliance with data governance, privacy, and quality standards in the clinical context.

● Prepare analytical reports, visualizations, and presentations for multidisciplinary clinical and project teams as well as scientific publications.

● Contribute to internal documentation, study reports, and scientific publications.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

● PhD or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field, with 5–10 years of relevant experience in clinical or translational bioinformatics in a business context.

● Strong expertise in analysis of patient-level omics data (bulk/single-cell RNA-seq, proteomics, epigenomics, spatial data).

● Understanding of clinical study design, data privacy, and regulatory-compliant analysis.

● Proficiency in R and/or Python; experience with HPC, cloud, and containerization (e.g., Docker).

● Strong foundation in statistics, data mining, and visualization.

● Ability to work independently and deliver against deadlines, as well as to synergize within interdisciplinary teams, enabling and empowering them to deliver high-quality scientific results. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage both scientific and clinical audiences. Excellent stakeholder management is essential.

● Fluent in English.

Preferred

● Experience integrating omics with clinical and phenotypic data to inform biomarker hypotheses.

● Familiarity with FAIR data principles, reproducible research, and GxP environments.

● Understanding of disease biology (neurology, immunology, rare disease) for contextual interpretation.

● Track record of contributions to peer-reviewed publications or clinical project reports.

What We Offer
● Opportunity to work in the UK (West-London) or in BE (Gent).

● Opportunity to work embedded in our client’s clinical bioinformatics teams, contributing directly to translational programs.

● Professional development through mentoring, training, and BioLizard’s global network of experts.

● Collaborative, impact-driven culture where your analyses contribute to real patient outcomes.

● Competitive compensation and benefits.
