We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Optical Engineer to join our Platform Team. This individual will work closely with the Head of Platform to play a crucial role in the design and delivery of our second-generation Deep Screening platform.

As a Senior Optical Engineer, you will be contributing to Sortera by building a precision fluorescence imaging system to interrogate hundreds of millions of proteins for their potential to be the next breakthrough biologic therapeutic. You will be part of a close-knit multi-disciplinary team laying solid engineering foundations for realising the potential of Deep Screening.

About The Role

This Senior Optical Engineer role owns the imaging subsystem of our second-generation Deep Screening platform. Responsibilities include:

• Analysis and optimisation of optical beam paths, including fluorescent signal chains.
• Coordination with suppliers and contractors to procure parts within project timelines.
• Optomechanical assembly and alignment.
• System integration, verification and validation activities.
• Development and maintenance of clear documentation including detailed engineering drawings, assembly procedures, and test reports.
