Special Interest Groups

We run a range of Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings for our Gold members. Our SIGs include Human Resources, Operations which incorporates (Facilities, Security & Business Risk and Health & Safety), Purchasing and Alliance and Project Management. The aim of these meetings is to provide a platform for people doing similar jobs in different companies to get together informally and discuss the issues that affect their working lives. Meetings are typically held three or four times a year, starting with a presentation on a topic nominated by the SIG, followed by discussion and lunch.

HR

Any Gold member of One Nucleus who deals with personnel issues is welcome to attend meetings of the HR Special Interest Group, whether you’re an experienced HR professional, just learning the ropes or only get involved because there’s no-one else to do it!

The group meets regularly throughout the year for a series of informal and proactive workshops and seminars on HR topics directly relevant to the biomedical sector. The sessions are run by Eleanor Freeman, a partner at Cambridge Employment Law LLP. The events offer the opportunity to learn, network and share best practice in a ‘safe’ environment.

Eleanor also provides a monthly newsletter updating you on the changes to employment law you need to know and highlights issues relevant to the biomedical sector.

Cambridge Employment Law LLP is a specialist employment law practice, advising both employers and employees.  Eleanor Freeman has particular experience advising the biomedical sector. Find out more at: www.cambridgeemploymentlaw.com. One Nucleus is delighted to be working with Eleanor again on the HR SIG.”

Operations which incorporates;

Security and Business Risk - The aim of this SIG is to bring together individuals responsible for both security and operational management. Recent talks have covered industrial espionage, security contractor management and managing risk in a laboratory setting.

Health & Safety - The aim of the Health & Safety SIG is to provide an area of communication for Health & Safety Managers.
These meetings were develop at the request of health & safety managers who wished to meet with their industry peers, topics covered - stress management, waste reduction, legislative updates and the overview of the challenges facing health and safety managers.

Purchasing

This SIG supports One Nucleus's well-established purchasing scheme, where Gold Member companies gain significant discounts on items such as laboratory consumables and office supplies and services such as pipette maintenance.

Alliance and Project Management

This SIG is operated for people who have a role in running projects within companies, and/or across alliance partner companies. Our purpose is to provide support and networking opportunities - particularly to people who may not have not had much formal training or many years experience in cross-functional working and project management.

* One Nucleus reserves the right to exclude individual Gold Members from individual SIGs where we consider there to be a conflict of interests.
