We are now seeking applications for an experienced Staff Scientist to actively contribute to exciting work. The post will be part of a dynamic group, led by Prof Jesmond Dalli, and will support the translational collaborative efforts to understand pathological mechanisms contributing to musculoskeletal diseases as part of a NIHR funded Biomedical Research Centre. The successful candidate is likely to be an energetic, focused, and productive individual with a desire to work in a congenial, dynamic, and collaborative research environment. Good organisational, analytical, bioinformatic and communication skills are essential. The post holder will perform LC-MS/MS based analysis to measure SPM and related molecules in tissue and samples derived from patients and experimental systems. will also design experiments to in collaboration with other colleagues and the Unit Director to support investigations into mechanisms regulating SPM production. The post holder will also supervise and support colleagues by providing technical advice on experimental design for the identification and quantitation of SPM and other lipid mediators in biological systems.
About You
Applicants should hold a relevant Masters degree or equivalent and work experience, with a broad interest in small molecule analysis using mass spectrometry-based approaches. Experience in the routine analytical equipment maintenance and in bioinformatic approaches to the analysis of omic datasets is desirable. The post requires good communication, attention to detail, good organisational skills and computer skills. You will be expected to be highly motivated and dynamic in pursuing your goals, extremely accurate in recording data, and will work closely with Prof Jesmond Dalli and other members of the Lipid Mediator Unit (https://www.qmul.ac.uk/whri/people/academic-staff/items/dallijesmond.html).
