“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” (Edward Everett Hale).
The title, or variations thereof, could have been created for the Life Sciences sector given that biomedical research, innovation and development of new treatments, diagnostics and medical technologies has collaboration and dealmaking at the core. This was never shown more strongly than in the response to Covid-19 where collaboration and open innovation at an unprecedented speed and scale globally, resulted in new interventions that have saved millions of lives.
A community engaged: |

The united support of our One Nucleus members and sponsors is what enables us to continue creating the environment for dealmaking. Be that deals in the sense of investment, M&A activity, R&D collaborations, out-sourcing, recruitment, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing or more. Furthermore, the environment we nurture both in-person and online works due to the community spirit demonstrated by our network and those further afield with whom we collaborate in order to raise awareness of opportunity in other markets. It is for sure reminiscent of a quote by Helen Keller; ‘Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much’ |
Uniting with United: |

In light of the above, and the high volume of trans-Atlantic deals involving our members, one could be forgiven for thinking that United Airlines was launched with our sector dynamic in mind. More likely it was the merging of three airlines into one in 1931 to form United Airlines that drove the name. One Nucleus is delighted to welcome United Airlines to its Partner Programme, bringing benefits where possible to support our members growth and contribute to successful outcomes for all. And United Airlines are in two-way mode. Listening to our members to hear and understand the challenges our members face and where travelling could be supported. Presenting the solutions, offers and support that United Airlines can offer to assist our members in addressing those challenges. Some early activities of this new collaboration are set out here where members have or can engage. It was a pleasure to have United supporting the inaugural One Nucleus Summer Life Sciences Dinner just a few weeks ago on the eve of ON Helix, contributing to a wonderful evening at the Babraham Research Campus for >100 senior executives from the sector to network with contacts old and new. |
Destination Boston: September 2022 |
|
|
Celebrating the launch of a direct London Heathrow to Boston route by United Airlines, we are collaborating to support a small group of member companies on a visit to Biotech Week Boston over 26-30 September. Whilst visiting, we will have a series of roundtables with Massachusetts-based leaders to compare and contrast the Life Sciences ecosystem along four main themes: investment landscape; science & innovation base; infrastructure and R&D space provision and the culture. These discussions will then feed into a house debate format vote at Genesis 2022 in London on 7 December. Also grateful to Bidwells for their support of the visit. Key aspects of the visit include:

More Tea Bookers? – 19 September 2023 |
|

Kindly sponsored by United Airlines, and in a strange parallel to the events in Boston on 16 December 1773, we will embark on a One Nucleus Afternoon Tea at Quy-Mill-Hotel, Cambridge to continue engaging with those charged with booking travel within our member companies to explore what support would be useful. |
