At One Nucleus, international connectivity is more than just a concept; it is at the core of what our members do and hence why we seek to complement that connectivity in how we support members. Whilst much of what One Nucleus delivers is done within the greater Cambridge-London region, our connectivity extends far beyond the UK. The connections can be through collaboration with peer industry membership groups such MassBio, Biocom California, LINK-J and collaborative members of the Council for European BioRegions (CEBR) or equally via our members who often have a presence in multiple locations as illustrated.
Over 200 One Nucleus members are based in the UK’s renowned, Cambridge-London-Oxford supercluster, one of the world’s leading hubs for life science research and innovation. This UK regional concentration of expertise complements our global connections where their companies also seek international opportunities for growth, with locations such as Boston. Linking our members to the knowledge and networks they need to thrive both at home and internationally in such clusters is an important member benefit of One Nucleus.
Targeted activities in 2023 and 2024 have seen One Nucleus focus heavily on enhancing our connections to the Greater Boston life sciences ecosystem, seen by many as the World’s leading innovation and investment hub for our sector. Building such a ‘Bridge to Boston’ is enabling One Nucleus to support our members in gaining insight, connections, profile and awareness of opportunities in that key market. Activities have included the Boston Bootcamp, satellite events around the annual BIO International Convention and a UK Pitching Day during Biotech Week Boston. For example, Cambridge, UK and Cambridge, MA are at the forefront of life science innovation, and harnessing the synergy between these two hubs is key for advancing global partnerships. By fostering cross-border collaboration, we’re helping our members access new markets, shared knowledge, and strategic partnerships on both sides of the Atlantic and elsewhere
To illustrate the dynamic nature of how our members are active around the World, One Nucleus has developed a new interactive graphic that maps out our global network. Capitalising on our members’ collective reach and by nurturing direct collaborations within key locations, One Nucleus is helping life science companies connect across borders and expand their reach globally in as seamless and impactful way as possible.
