Summary of role:
Here at Domainex, with our two sites – one based on the Chesterford Research Park on the outskirts of Saffron Walden and one at the Unity Campus, just outside Sawston, on the outskirts of Cambridge - we are looking to expand our team with the addition of an Apprentice Associate Scientist focussing on a role based on the Unity Campus in our Biology Centre of Excellence.
Description of apprentice’s role and duties please specify particular tasks the apprentice will be expected to undertake as part of their role:
- Carry out a wide range of technical and scientific activities in your specialist discipline.
- Analyse, interpret and evaluate relevant scientific information, concepts and ideas and use these to develop subsequent experiments or investigations.
- Propose solutions to problems encountered during the scientific analysis.
- Identify areas for improvement and propose innovative scientific ideas and solutions.
- Work with a wide variety of instrumentation throughout the apprenticeship.
Full training will be provided in support of this role at Domainex and the University of Kent.
Expected start date for successful candidate: September 2025
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week. We operate a flexible working policy to meet the needs of the role.
Person Spec:
- A good understanding of the related drug discovery disciplines necessary to support drug discovery programs, such as chemistry and / or biology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Motivated and pro-active for addressing new challenges and providing solutions.
- Evidence of working within teams and good examples of team working.
Required qualifications:
English Language and Mathematics at Grade 4 or above. Applicants are also required to have achieved at least two subjects at A Level (or equivalent), including Biology. Alternatively, candidates must have completed a Level 3 Laboratory Technical Apprenticeship in a relevant science discipline.
